Fine Tableware for the Gallery
The Avondale Selection. Quite a change from the usual CL designs.
I use it every morning as the saucer for my Image Coffee Can, perfect like the coffee.

Re: Fine Tableware for the Gallery
So this is a coffee can saucer?
One would assume that there will be a coffee can out there somewhere that matches the saucer

re Fine Tableware
Nah! I have confused you , sorry . 'cos I only have one CL Coffee Can albeit handpainted, I needed a saucer and the example fits beautifully and looks OK but I doubt that there is a Coffee can in the same design, too trad. in relation to the Can design styles I think.

Re: Fine Tableware for the Gallery
Aha but ..... I picked up on the fact that the saucer was a perfect fit for the Image coffee can .... and they were still making coffee cans when the Avondale Selection was released in 1977.... see pic on page 130. Is there any other shaped cup that would fit the coffee can saucer? The Forma shape perhaps? I don't have one of those cups, but do have a coffee can cup and saucer.

re Fine Tableware for the gallery
Hi Ev,
I find that I do have a Sorrento cup and it is the Forma style and yes it does dock in the Fine Tableware saucer that I am using with my Image Can. In addition unlike most cups it is backstamped and is marked D093. It is in my waifs section as the design is very faded, may have missed the overglaze or had a hard time in the dishwasher so until I did another search it lay forgotten.
So both the Can and the Forma OD's are near the same measurement but of course the Forma style has a double docking ring as noted on page 114 of Monk.
It was the Forma style that I chose to replicate in Rimu purely by chance although I rather like the shape with the slight flare at the lip.

Re: Fine Tableware for the Gallery
It looks lovely as a big pattern and I would like to use that in the Gallery.
Also thanks for clearing that up Marl as I couldn't find any other cup that sat nicely on my coffee can saucer other than the coffee can.

Yeeeeeessss! and now you can. You can imagine my delight to spot this today and for only a $1.00 so now I have trio set.
Details are 75mmDia x 71mm High with that distinctive handle shape, a flattened curve?
slightly different to the 457 Image that I had sitting on the saucer up until now.
it measures 71mmDia x 61mm High and the handle is a more normal curve.
Let me know if you would prefer a photo of the cup on its own.
