O. C. Stephens
Oswold Counsell Stephens made a variety of hand made and slipcast wares from around 1935 to 1964.

An O.C. Stephens jug from Marcus
Even though this piece needs some professional TLC -
it is a good example of the work made and the gorgeous glazes that were used.
and the O.C. Stephens backstamp..

OC Stephens mug with blue glaze inside
Brooke and Olwyn Talbot-Titley's OC Stephens cast mug with blue inside.
These coloured ones are lovely. I think this is the first I have held.
Note that unlike the brown one above this has a footring.
Mine, like Kat's one, have flat bottoms too.
The Stephens mark is simpler and small.
I didn't measure it, assuming the same shape, but it looks taller than Kat's one, and my own.

Re: O. C. Stephens
That is just weird isn't it? Looks like Crown Lynn but in fact is O C Stephens.
Luck you Kat as his work is rather collectable !!

a small OC Stephens bowl (and an Ambrico #10)
Although I have both cast and thrown mugs by OC Stephens I am constantly tempted by his other wares for sale on trademe. No more. This one small dish is all I need.
I always seem to miss the old pots at opshops so I think I must have arrived just after this small Stephens bowl and an Ambrico #10 vase were put out for sale at Henderson Salvation Army shop last Thursday at $2 each. I'm counting the latter as my first Ambrico vase opshop find.
Both vases are crazed (barely visible on the OCS) but otherwise perfect.
OC Stephens shallow dish, 70mm OD at top, marked OCStephens
Ambrico number 10 vase, 83mm OD at top, marked Made in NZ and "B"

An O.C. Stephens bowl courtesy of the Ferret who sent this to the site as it has Dunedin on the stamp:
