Both of these Potter's Marks belong to Barry Hockenhull
Have had these pieces for some time all in use regularly. Does anyone recognise the marks and the style. Looks like two B's back to back and on the storage jars, we have two, there is another mark alongside which looks like a shamrock. Can't see on the studio Potters gallery. Â

That's a beautiful casserole Jonno.
Expertly crafted and I love the shino glaze.
I feel that I've seen those marks, but can't put a name to them sorry.

Re: Potter's Mark/s
Yes I see the mystery potters hand on all those pieces even without the marks. I have great faith in your alert brain and look forward to hearing who the potter is before too long.
Looking slowly at the marks both on our 3 pieces and on the photos on the site the stylised mark might be a T DB or T BB perhaps . The other thing that I notice is that your lidded pot and our small casserole only have that mark whereas the two storage jars have that mark with what looks like a shamrock or clover alongside to the right. mmmmmmmm!!!!!!

The mark on the right looks like this Barry Hockenhull mark on NZ Potters and the wavy decoration rings of him too ... oops you have to scroll about half way down the page..

Re: Potter's Mark/s
I was right the Ev brain and eyes crack another mystery, thanks.
I asked Ann if Barry Hockenhull could have been the potter and she agreed without
hesitation, probably bought at Albany Potters.
So the other mark may well be another of his used at another period?

I've been watching this auction with those marks.
re Potter's Mark/s
The two b's back to back certainly look the same as my Hockenhull mark and the colour of the glaze and the strong potters style make me agree that is his work.

Re: Both of these Potter's Marks belong to Barry Hockenhull
Fantastic as I've just had confirmation from Barbara Hockenhull that these two marks belong to Barry Hockenhull. Here is what she says ...
Hi. Yes the pot is definately one of Barry Hockenhull’s. He used the BH stamp until he discovered that a potter down south used the same or similar and the other one was a little stamp that he picked up in Japan.
Cheers

Fantastic indeed Ev,
What a joy to be linked to this site where gems of discovery like this
pop up on a regular basis.
Still have the 3 pieces from Barry's skilfull hands that started this thread and they are used touched and admired almost every day.

Barry Hockenhull mug
So pleased to finally have a mug by Barry Hockenhull.
That makes work by four Hockenhulls in my collection now: Arran, Barbara, Barry, and Scott.
You may notice the mark appears to be upside down.
Considering the mark is a stylised BH I'm surprised it usually appears "sideways".
