More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
This a lovely set, no name or number though, a pretty pattern as below
and the backstamp on the saucer
I think these are Farmers mugs,
and the base, let me know if you would rather have a single image for the gallery

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
Hi sunshine, we don't have the 1314 shape in the Gallery yet, but as it looks so much like the 3050 shape can you tell me what the differences are please? Perhaps smaller or maybe bigger ????
Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
All my mugs seem to have run away I am trying to sort and pack those not used/displayed, and things keep changing position. The 1314 is 90mm tall if that helps?

This Farmers mug drives me nuts.... I can't find a date online for Farmers' 100 years, and there is no date that I can see on my mug! Any ideas, anyone???

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
Aparently Farmers started out as Laidlaw Leeds in 1909, and became Farmers United Trading Company in 1917. Check this site and scroll down the catalogue covers http://www.farmers.co.nz/history.html Hope that helps

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
This is from the same site as the above .....
'Farmers turns 100 in October 2009 and celebrates by donating $1 million to New Zealand communities and charities. Commemorative products are launched for the 100 year celebrations.'
I remember the hooha and the book they put out to mark the occasion
So how does the mug fit into this?

this link says that his father, Robert, started a business in 1886. perhaps it is 100 years from then and they just got in in time to have the mugs done?

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
The artwork on the mug is the same style as was done by Tom Arnold (who also did the Ceramco trinket jar). He was there for much of the last decade of CL, tho he left before The End. So those references make sense, maybe this mug was part of Crown Lynn's swan song.. Ev do you know when that mug shape was first made, they did do lots in the 80s.

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
The 1314 mug was first made 28-8-79.
This mug looks the same shape as the 3050 mug, so I looked that up too and it says -
3050 - Like 1314 - First made 18-8-80. Blimey! what! hey! aye!

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
Found the Deco number for the Farmers Mug - Q19 so looked up the records and found it listed just before Sesame Street and Smurf, which seems to be around 1980/81 as the Greece patterns are just a few lines away and so is the Royal Wedding from 1981.
Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
This auction clears up the mystery surrounding the Farmers mug!

The leaflet that goes with the 4 mugs reads ...
"To our staff on the occasion of New Zealand Farmers Co-Operative of Canturbury's 100 Year Celebrations"
The Farmers Co-Op supplied farmers with all sorts, from manure to implements etc etc etc.

Re: More photos, including Farmers Co-op mugs
Do note, the Farmers a Co-op in Canterbury is a different company from Farmers Trading Company in Auckland, which started out as Laidlaw Leeds.
