Re: Studio Anna Coffee Mugs
Studio Anna was set up by Czech-born (1927) Karel Jungvirt and his wife Toni Coles in Neutral Bay, Sydney in 1952 a year after he arrived in Australia. They had met when they both worked at Diana Pottery.
Karel intended to name it Anna Studio but the registration was mishandled and it became Studio Anna. In 1954 the business moved to Marrickville. By the 1980s business had fallen off and only lampbases, kitchenware and hotelware were being produced. In 1999 the lamp base business and the factory at Marrickville were sold. Karel Jungvirt returned to Dubne, Czechoslovakia and died the following year.
This info is from: 'Marrickville Potteries - Fowlers, Diana Studio & Studio Anna' - Gary Nicholls, Robert Hutchinson, geoffrey Ostling, and Donna Braye. - Marrickville Historical Society (n.d.)
