From Marcus .... A fantastic large Peter Alger Jug about 300mm high ..

and the mark which differs from the Marks of New Zealand Potters as the fish is swimming the opposite way and looks a little different scratch Can someone please confirm that this Alger looking awesome pot is indeed his Smile

Again, the person to ask would be Peter himself....Ive seen this jug and am 99% sure gut feeling its by Peter Alger.....but that 1% makes all the difference....anyone got the contact details for Peter?. Also Howard Williams may know as it is his pot on the front cover of the marks book.

Comparing this jug with Geoff's Peter Alger jug - I say that it's a definite cheers
Why? Lets compare the two jugs ..... side by side ...

Even though these photos are at slightly different angles I can see that ...

The spout is exactly the same -
The thick rim is the same -
The bountiful belly has been shaped by the same person -
The lines down the jug are in the same place -
The whale tail finish on the handle is the same -
Even the foot has been crafted by the same potter!
These are all potters signature marks and cannot be copied in the exact same way.
