NZ pottery from the 70s is made by Orzel
I bought the larger casserole dish new from a gift shop in Dunedin in the mid-seventies. I remember well the triangular made in NZ sticker on it but the seller was unable to tell me where exactly it was made even then. Since I have added a salt pig, smaller casserole dish, spice jar and the strange salt and pepper set. Holes on the side of the container. In fact I did not even know I had the matching pair until last week when I found the salt shaker in one of the boxes and was amazed when I put it with the more recent pepper shaker to find that they were indeed a set!
So, can anyone shed some light on where they might have been made please? I would love to know.

I had a salt and pepper like yours Thelma ....
I got it from the Orzel Pottery factory at Drury in the late 1970's.
Though mine were brown with a contrasting glaze at the top.
Don't think I've ever seen those casseroles before .....?

Thanks for that Ev, it could quite well be the same design but different colour that you had. I have an eagle eye for pottery spotting and I have rarely seen this colour, they seem to be mainly Chch southwards that I have picked up these pieces.

Well I came across this colourway today for the first time in fact ....
it was a Gravy Jug I think .... it had two pouring spouts ... one each side of the pot.
Definitely Orzel Pottery ...
Merry Xmas Thelma

Thanks for that info Ev. Was the gravy thingy for sale somewhere? I can now add Orzel to the growing list of pottery companies that I have examples from. I have had to be firm and tell myself to keep it down to a couple of manufacturers and then only certain bits, I have stuff everywhere! I must be the only person in NZ that keeps pottery in her dishwasher! ( stopped using it ages ago when I discovered the kids didn't know how to clean up the dishes.)

Yes I saw the two spouted gravy jug in the local Hospice shop ....
I was so busy looking at that rather lovely glaze colour that I didn't even register how much they were selling it for

snap!
About 90mm H
I saw these in one of the op-shops on Saturday and knew I'd seen them before.
Went back today, thinking they were at the Sallies, so freakout: Hospice!
New corks from Arthur's Emporium.
It really is an amazing colour.
I am so intrigued by this unmarked castware.
I bought a bowl at Habitat in similar but not same colours
and I'm thinking Clay Craft. I''ll check the glazes in topics.
I'll post that somewhere after I've washed it.

New Orzel shape
Op-shop Orzel (SPCA Kerikeri)
I'm putting this jug in Thelma's topic because it matches her lovely set.
I love this colour so much I recognised it straight away, although the shape is new.
I have photographed it with a salt shaker from previous post.

Larger Orzel green jug and similar by Hobby Ceramics
And a bigger one.
I was all set to give this one away, as I thought it was a duplicate, then I checked the measurements.
At 14.5 high by 8 across the bottom, this is clearly larger than the one I posted above (12 x 7) and much bigger than the wee one posted above and here: https://www.newzealandpottery.net/t5408-2-little-green-orzel-jugs#20364
I have pretty much stopped collecting general Orzel shapes now (mugs excluded if I ever find any new ones) but I do so love the green glaze that this will form a mini-collection with the other jugs, salts and peppers, and a casserole recently acquired like one of Thelma's (above), and I may even have one of the spice-jar-come-wine-sip shapes somewhere too. I just noticed courtesy of google that I have a two-spout jug as well: https://www.newzealandpottery.net/t4861-orzel-sauce-jug-with-two-spouts#17793
The three jugs are in different locations atm so I can't photo them together but I have cobbled together a quick montage to give an idea of the relative sizes.
A little mental arithmetic tells me that these would likely have been modelled as four, five, and six inch jugs.
LATER
I just noticed that the wee jug didn't make it to the gallery. DONE NOW.

Here's a Hobby Ceramics version of the Orzel green jug.
I thought it was the big size (didn't measure) but when I looked at them together in a montage (2 x Orzel, and Hobby) the scale of the handle was more in keeping with the middle size.
