A clear glaze over a red earthenware clay gives a red oxide effect Marcus ...
not sure if this is the case here, but it's lovely all the same

Hi Ev,
I'm a real novice when it comes to the pigments etc used in the colouring process for pottery,
but its got an amazing Ox blood sort of hue to it.
I like the Paka pieces for their solid form and simple striking colours.
And also thanks heaps for doing such a great job of posting all of our images, it's much appreciated.
Cheers

Ox blood definitely is RED RED .....
Copper Oxide turns an ox blood red in reduction firings ...
I want to see this piece in real life one day .... mustn't forget!

I'm still pondering this piece ....
It's red earthenware .... maybe the rich red is a cadmium glaze ?
Though I've never seen it used on red earthenware clay......it's a possibility
