Picked up a pretty little ashtray today, I was very excited (being a newbie) thinking it may have been a Crown Lynn ashtray, but was disappointed to find it was not to be Embarassed Still, I was hoping somebody could give me an idea of who may of made my pretty ashtray (a big of an oxymoron these days lol). Could it be Spode? Or Shorter and Sons? There is no marking. A fairly weighty piece.

I have also included a pic of a lovely bowl I have. Which I was hoping for help with too. No markings again. Thought is might have been German, not so sure now. Very nicely made and very striking. Once again...THANKS! [url=Do you think these are keewee pieces :) P1060334
Btw, does anyone else with a mac have a problem with html putting the code in twice for images? Very odd! :parrot:

That bowl is gorgeous newbie!!
I've never seen anything like it before..... English/German/Aussie ... maybe perhaps??
No idea about the ashtray either ... maybe someone will come along who knows though Smile

This piece has similar colours:

It has the impressed marks "Bretby England" and "Handmade" on the base. Where the green runs into the red there looks to be more mixing of colours than on your piece though?

and here's the Bretby works two years ago: http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34346
