He is a very good potter. Have you seen his website? There's a good set of pictures of the pottery making process and kilns etc, not to mention the pot gallery.
These are some plates probably from a few decades ago. The wax resist reminds me a bit of Smisek.

Re: My Greg Barron Pride and Joy .....
Mug by Greg Barron.
I have had this for some months now and may have even have posted it elsewhere in the hope of identifying the potter. There is a mark but it is buried deep in the glaze at the base of the handle.
The dark glaze did suggest to me that it was Greg Barron's work but I had completely forgotten that until after I showed it to Marcus on Sunday and he independently concluded the same. Now confirmed by Greg himself:
"The mug in the image is one of mine, I guess made about ten years ago here in my Glenbervie workshop."
84mm H x 72 OD top
It is a stunning piece. Opshop buy.
-----------
31/10/15
Greg told me today he recalled it being a bit of shino glaze over the tenmoku.
-------------
Saturday ...
... after a visit to Glenbervie Pottery.
Some more Greg Barron mugs.
both 9cm H x 10 OD top
Greg sometime uses a "P" stamp on the base to indicate porcelain as on the celadon example, left.
I saw Greg had one example in this style with an amazing red (copper) glaze and some in tenmoku waiting to go in the kiln.

Greg Barron wide mug
10cm ID
-----------
16/12/16
The latte cup has gone to Carolyn whose own one broke.
She also has a beautiful matching teapot bought new.
And to my two Huffman cereal bowls I now add this by Greg. The same beautiful celadon.
the colour on the cup is much more accurate

Visit to Greg Barron and Jin Ling
Also see my follow-up post below. This one got too big and uweildly!
Yesterday (6 April 2017) our pottery group had the pleasure of visiting Greg Barron and Jin Ling at their home/studio/workshop just outside Whangarei.
They made us very welcome and Greg took a couple of hours out of his day to show us round and talk about his work. They live in an earth house hand-built by Greg, with extensive gardens decorated with their work. They have a great display of their work for sale, open almost every day.
Greg and Jin Ling dig most of their clay locally and prepare it in machinery made by Greg. For me it was a real delight to see the same machines and processes that Crown Lynn used - in miniature. They buy in some clay and other additives, including NZ China Clay from Matauri Bay.
They have three kilns, gas, electric and wood-fired, which they use for different aspects of their work. Greg has been potting since his school days, and has been a professional potter since the early 1970s when he worked for/with Mirek Smisek. He has lived in Northland most of his life. He makes mostly items made to be used - cups, bowls, vases, teapots, in all different sizes and decorations. A woodfired jug entered in this year's Portage Awards earned him a scholarship to the Peters Valley School of Craft in New Jersey, USA.
Jin Ling studied sculpture at art school in China, and has been in NZ for about 20 years. She sculpts in clay, mainly terracotta, and birds feature prominently in her work. Her work conveys emotions of calm and peacefulness - much needed in today's world!
Altogether it was a most interesting and inspiring visit - heartfelt thanks to Greg and Jin Ling for the time and attention they gave us, and to Jeremy who organised it. Here are some pics.
Kat and the wood fired kiln. The bricks came from Kamo.
Greg shows us the machinery he has made for processing clay.
The border of this pond is made from firebricks which Greg and Jin Ling glazed in clear bright colours.
This is Greg's award winning jug. The photo doesn't do it justice - the colours are much richer.
I had to bring home one of Jin Ling's lovely little birds. She has been making them for over a decade; little NZ Kukupa. The vase is Greg's, note the little tree stamps which appear on much of his more recent work.

Re: My Greg Barron Pride and Joy .....
Last night I ran out of concentration and didn't finish my post - here are a few more pics from our visit to Greg Barron and Jin Ling. Greg spoke about Hamada as a 'living treasure' in Japan, and after our visit one of our group suggested we should adopt Greg as OUR living treasure! So true.
Jin Ling at her work table, and a recent sculpture.
A firebrick from the wood fired kiln. Once they got the kiln so hot that some of the firebrick posts collapsed - a real disaster, but after that they used even more highly heat resistant bricks, made at Kamo.
I loved this lily bowl. Made by Greg.
And this... from his days at the Quarry arts centre in Whangarei. My camera has slightly distorted the shape.
Below: exhibition posters from about 20 years ago.
