Temuka ware factory seconds
Hi peoples
I have a few inheirited pieces which I believe to be factory seconds and may a prototype?
Back story, my Great Grandfather used to work at Temuka pottery, Im guessing in the 20's? as he moved to Woburn, Lower Hutt to build the new family home in the 20's/30's...He turned trade to be a careera ceiling installer, the Woburn home has all the fancy plaster decoration ceilings in every room I seen on an openhome years back.
My Grandmother tells of many Xmas's a crate arrived there from Temuka with seconds, one offs etc and when she moved out to Taita in '46 she was given alot of them.
Teapots a plenty but she donated to jumble sales and whatnot over the years.
My mother in turn inheirit the 4 remaining pieces and in turn me.
One in particular is very cool and on the cover of a nz pottery book.
Anyways photos when i decipher how to add them, hopefully not a third provider with links.
Thanks
Edit: This might be better placed in the Temuka category?

wonderful!
All beautiful items...especially the wall vase...you are very lucky to have one. Not sure how many of the dogs were made, there are a few around. The animals were mostly limited series or gifts for special occasions. The only one I have not seen before is the green rectangle vase. Does it have a base stamp?

Re: Temuka ware factory seconds
Hi yes, and a number
Sadly that vase has 2 cracks, and the obvious bowed side hence seconds.
The jug also has a crack through the top of the handle.
You can see the missing glazing and corner missing on the close up pics on the wall vase.
The dog still doesn't sit flat even after the grinding by I assume factory.
