NZI miniature ceramic tikis + a mystery ceramic tiki (early Air NZ?)
Hi all - Wondering if anyone knows anything about these two very small (24mm x 10mm) ceramic tikis from NZI (they have a drilled hole so perhaps earrings? charms?) and a larger ceramic tiki (60mm x 35mm) that is pretty much the exact size and design as the plastic tiki provided by Air NZ in the 70s and 80s. Did Air NZ once do them as ceramic ones? Thanks.

How kind of NZI to add the maker and the date
The green tiki has been painted ... just a mention as I have no ideas to add

Ha Ev yes the year is rather useful! They are so small. Thanks re the tiki being painted - so perhaps fired in white then hand painted for sale? Mystery upon mystery

Love the NZI tiki! never seen them before! soooo interesting!
the wee NZI Temuka marked discs had a tiki emblem on them. The one I have was made in 1966 for the Temuka school centenary. think they made those for other occasions.
The Temuka Pottery facebook page would be a good place to post your tiki on. Lots of fans would love to see them and someone may have info.

I found no info anywhere on-line on ceramic tiki being given away. Air NZ say they gave their plastic tiki away in the 70s...interesting comment at the bottom of the Motat link saying it was first started in the 50's by Tasman Empire Airways Limited.

No info on the wonderful NZI Temuka tiki that I could find. I hope the facebook page may turn up something.

Thanks Melita - I had a vague memory that TEAL gave them away first but yes very hard to find anything online despite searching... it's just so interesting that it's exactly the same size as the plastic ones. Will keep looking
