Chicken pot ?

What do you make of this? It's hand potted : no makers mark except for the decoration at the front.
Been well loved, but also very well made.

Royce McGlashen made many of these and called them Chicken Bricks.
A whole chicken was cooked inside it.
Others also made them, but not as well as Royce.
