I was lucky enough to find this Gold Panner in an opshop and recognised him right away.

The base markings had me thinking it was a Hobbie Ceramics piece, however Lovatt family members put me straight Very Happy

Gregg Lovatt told me that Kiriware was a range of wares inspired & selected by Christine Lovatt of Lovatt Studio.  

Glenys Lovatt said that the original was designed by RS Lovatt on a commission for the Otago Goldfields centenary in the mid 1950's and produced in limited numbers at that time.

The clay is a dirty white, it is solid and not glazed.  cheers

Yesterday I noticed a listing on Trade Me for a Kiri Jasparware Salt shaker, and the clay looks like the clay looks similar to this chap .... very interesting!
