Putaruru vase
Hi Everyone ,
I picked up this vase today thinking the base looked like an Orzel one , but when I got home and compared it is much more gritty .
I have found the shape in the Pataruru hand ceramics gallery so I’m thinking it must be made there as doesn’t feel like hobby ceramics. Would love to confirm if anyone recognizes this vase .
Thanks a bunch
Tara

Re: Putaruru vase
This is interesting because I have never seen a Putaruru piece with an unglazed base. I have at least 20 and they all have a nice glazed base with a tidy unglazed foot ring. HOWEVER I looked at the post for the terracotta vase in the Putaruru Hand Ceramics gallery, and I am 99% confident it is Putaruru. Significantly, I have a Putaruru vase which has Putaruru Hand Ceramics impressed on the base, and also carries the same sticker as the terracotta vase.
Whether PottyTara has found the same shape by different maker, who knows.
Does anyone else have any Putaruru Hand Ceramics with the flat unglazed base?

Re: Putaruru vase
That's interesting Val.
Putaruru did copy other potteries, so this pot could be an original from another pottery.
We have never made any connections or had any info turn up on Putaruru Hand Ceramics yet. Hopefully we will one day!

Re: Putaruru vase
Thank you both for the replies . I remembered I also had a Putaruru planter and compared the feel of them and they do feel very much the same. I love it no matter who made it . Thank you for your knowledge .
