The one at Timaru built by my Great Uncle James has completely gone, there is the remains of one similar to Benhar at Palmerston North but the roof collapsed in a storm in 2014 apparently so this means Benhar is certainly the last such kiln in NZ.
They are still in use in India, for instance, and new plants are offered at $US50,000 for brickmaling.
