I've never seen this mark before Cam.
I will check out my Len Castle books just in case though.
There are several NZ potters with the initials LC.
The NZ Potters marks book doesn't include this one.

Who else used this marking? Might still have the possibility of being his ? Thanx

Nearly all of Len Castle's marks have a square surround.
I would say that I'm 99.9% sure that this isn't his mark.
His marks were as meticulously made as was his pottery.
Here are a few other potters that use LC as their marks...
Lila Coker .... but it's not her mark
Leslie Close..... not their mark either
Bruce Lissant-Clayton..... it's not his
and Clifford Smith has what looks like an LC mark
and there are others.

The book I refer to is called "Marks of New Zealand Potters"
It was published by NZ Potters Inc in 2007 and is available on trademe.
It doesn't have all of the marks of NZ potters but is a good research tool.
It would have been better if the marks were photographed instead of having drawings of them.
I have been interested in potters marks for many years but still have a lot to learn lolz.

I will move this thread into the Mystery Marks section after Cam has read the last comment.

Kk
We found 2 of these mugs too!
We found these 2 mugs last week, both with the same stamp. I have to say, they appear to be recent works, so very unlikely to be made by Len.
The marks are very large also, and look like they are from a more commercial type pottery. Perhaps they are actually the insignia of a group or organisation? The clay is white on the bases, and show the swirl from the wheel.

Several people on Facebook have confirmed this mark as that of Chris Lewis and the link above makes me confident to move the mark into the Gallery as that of Chris Lewis
