Lovely thanks Kat cat
I've been told that this is the work of Mike O'Donnell's father, but I've had nothing to confirm this. Whoever they are they produced a fair bit of pottery and always used that distinctive red glaze.

I have been told that this ware has something to do with Mike O'Donnell's family and his father and brother were mentioned, along with Mike, but no definite details.  This ware is a rich distinctive red and every piece that I've seen has had the base ground where the glaze has run.

A potter's mark is on the base along with the word Coromandel ...

At last I found a piece of this work that didn't cost the earth and it is made from earthenware clay and glazed with a tin glaze and coloured glazes.  It has Coromandel written on the base in the same hand with those squiggles above that only the maker would know what they represent ..

A chance Facebook post about this work suggested that this work and mark was made by Ron Clark /e who potted at Whangapoua .
The Ferret has spoken to Annette Stephenson's daughter and she asked her Mum who potted at Whangapoua if she remembered Ron and his red glaze and she does.
Now we are waiting to find the correct spelling and then we can credit this wonderful work to him cheers

More info to hand thanks to Mon cheers

There were two Clark brothers who made this pottery, Ron and Leo and it is said that they signed their work with either an r or an l.
Now to check out my pieces and find some, as I have noticed different styles of writing Coromandel.

This looks like it could be Ron Clark's R mark:
