Unusually shaped little vase
This is more like an eggcup than a vase at only 68mm high. It feels like Crown Lynn
The base is unmarked and there are no fraction marks either, but then the base is very small. Any ideas appreciated.

Hi this is interesting and quite stylish... can you check the glaze against anything else? - does it look like same colour/texture etc?

Re: Unusually shaped little vase
It certainly feels like Crown Lynn, and without knowing we don't have this shape in the galleries anywhere, I would swear it was Crown Lynn. It is a very similar shape to the hand potted number 18. As a comparison I have a few photos (sorry it's taken so long, been busy)
3 red pieces, all slightly different in colour (the rest are packed away atm, and safe from earthquakes).
The same glaze effect as a mini vase (425) on the base
and the same height. My conclusion is that it is, but I wonder what number it would be, or is it an experimental piece?

Hi mumofone
I think your pot is one of the mysterious wee hand potted ones that we talked about in this thread:
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t3444-four-digit-numbered-hand-potted#11167
I think they are late 40s-early 50s - same date as the eggcups. We still don't know much about them, but they were retailed because some have Crown Lynn Stickers on them.
There was one on TM recently here:

Re: Unusually shaped little vase
I have been thinking about the 324 small imitation hand-thrown 7" and the 325 large imitation hand-thrown 8" that we now have a description of. I have taken a photo of the above wee vase next to a handthrown, and wondered...
Does the description mean that the vase is a small or large copy of a 7" and an 8" hand-thrown, or is the 324 itself 7" tall and the 325 8" tall?
This is not a match I'm afraid, as the pictured vase is 9" tall. However, I would like to know, so that we know what we are looking for.

Re: Unusually shaped little vase
As far as I can tell the description is of the piece described.
Well that's how it has been so far. Let me find a parallel ...
and there are so many to choose from ...
2036 Leaf Spray Vase - 4" is one that belongs to you.
So the 324 will be 7" and the 325 will be 8".
These were made in 1967 and with the word 'Imitation' it is intriguing to wonder what these are like to say the least.
Any likely prospects should be keenly looked at as they will look like they are Hand-Thrown, but they are not!
I'm so glad that you have picked up on these pieces and their descriptions sunshine!
