You made me laugh out loud, Ev. So more Kermiko than I thought, then.

Conversation in the Op shop:
- Me "These are nice."
- She "Those are Temuka."
- Me "No, they're not. They are Royal Oak."
- She "They are Temuka, they were my sister's."
- Me "Nope, I recognise the decal."
And then I bought them:

Royal Oak Empty Re: Royal Oak

Post  Hannele Thu 4 Oct - 18:42

Apparently her sister lived in or near Temuka and had mostly Temuka ceramics. So the lady, when clearing out her sister's flat, just assumed the caddies were Temuka as well. She did believe me in the end, though.
And I was grinning myself. Do you know that a year ago I hadn't even heard of Temuka? Or Royal Oak? I never even knew New Zealand has and had so many potteries.
It all started with a Waimea teapot ...

You have been a very supportive teacher, as well as the other members of this forum. It feels good to have a place where you can ask newbie questions without having to worry you are being laughed at.
Much aroha to you.

Coming back into the shop, the same lady told me: "I have something for you." Me: "More Royal Oak. Not Temuka!" We both laugh.
A nice little bowl, no lid. Could it be a sugar bowl?

Yes definitely Royal Oak. I saw a post by one of the decoraters and she said that there were two and they could tell their own work.
